Climate Control Issue
Hello. I'm new, and after reading the sticky that scorned newbies for posting things that have already been posted, I almost just left.
I understand the dilema. This new guy has just spent an hour and a half searching stickys and threads. I don't see my problem anywhere. If I missed it, I am truly sorry. Here's my story:
'05 C240 4Matic. The selector for Defrost, Dash Blowers, Floor, seems to do what it wants; or at least doesn't do what I want. If I want defrost, I have to spend a few minutes cycling the knob to all positions before I can get Defrost. It is intermittent. Once in a while it works right when I get in the car. Eventually it goes. But I am afraid that it will get worse and I want to address it now.
I do appreciate anything you might share with me.

Search "Climatronic easter egg" for resynch method.
Otherwise problem could be the controller, a stepper motor or a broken stepper motor arm.
Do you hear a clicking sound behind the dash when you first start the car. If so it is a broken stepper motor arm.
Good luck & please feel welcome here.
The search function is very word & terminology dependent & we understand that.

Thank you Glyn.
I did the resync and it appears to be operating correctly now.
This C240 is new to me. I was rear-ended in my ML320 and totalled it. I'm still sad. I didn't want the C car first. I wanted another ML. But finding one that hasn't been beat was harder than I thought. This 240 was very "Like New". I took it. I'm picky.
This is my 5th Benz. I am a full-timer.
I would suggest that the Sticky to Newbies about re-posting be calmed down a bit. I'm not even close to being new on forums. That's just the way it is. People like you step in and help people like me.
Thank you very much. I hope I will have something to offer here one day.
