Differentail fluid change

Ok so I wanna do the Diff fluid change on my wifes car. Im running this gear oil (BG Synchroshift ii) and it works AMAZING!!!! for all you stick shift guys out there lol. But back to the point how much fluid would I need and is the MB oil really the only option? I wanna use redline 75W-90 or mobil 1 diff oil. Thanks I searched but everyone is running different things so idk which one would be good and how much it takes. The car is a W203 Sports Sedan with a M271 motor Auto tranny.

I have the same car ... 2005 C230 ... and I used the MB oil for my diff change. You could try less expensive gear oil, but this service is done once in a blue moon and if you happen to pick an oil that does damage to the diff before your next fluid change, then you just screwed up big-time.

The oil at the local dealership was $28/qt ... outrageously expensive in my opinion, and I bought two quarts of it thinking that I would need it. Turns out I needed just barely over one quart, and if I wanted to I could have used only one quart and topped off the diff with the old fluid. (Since you don't remove 100% of the old fluid anyway, does it really hurt if you return a few percent more of the old fluid back into the diff?)

Since I won't do this again for at least a couple of years I'll take the peace of mind for the higher cost fluid. (And next time I'll buy just one quart!)

This has been discussed before for this specific engine and it should tell you in your service booklet. Part number 000 583 09 04. Mine took about 1.5 quarts.

I think you answered your own question."Peace of mind" & not being a tight a#se ( No offence meant! )

You quite likely to be able to use the left over oil on your future MB's .
