interior falling apart
The car is garaged and covered in said garage. Less than 50000 miles. The car is rarely driven and has spent it's entire life in Florida. An economy beater that is driven hard with no care given, than I could expect it, but a Benz that is babied, no freaking way. I will soon be in the market for one if not two new cars. MB will not be on my list due to quality issues.

Just priced the dash cubby hole on ebay a used one was up for $95 and new at the dealer is $40. No brainer.

Sticky knobs were common especially in hot climates. (PVA painted parts). Dash & glove box issues were not common. Where was your car built? If Brazil it might explain it. Local content.

The thing I'm most concerned about on the interior of my car is the seat belts not retracting anymore, which is a serious pain in the ***, and I've had two speaker covers go to heaven because of it.
I know that Honda warranties the seatbelts for the life of the car (lots of crx owners have taken their cars to the dealers this past year to get the work done, if you can believe that - great of Honda to do so) - I guess it would be expecting too much to have Mercedes have the same kind of warranty?

Tommy - my passenger side was doing the same thing. I found a service bulletin somewhere that mentioned cleaning the part that it slides through on the B-pillar with soap and water and cleaning the belt itself. The problem appears to usually be a light buildup of dirt and grime there that sticks and slows the belt. I tried it on mine and it seemed to do the trick.
Then again, I guess it's part of the MB charm since my 83 500SE had them come loose, too.
Took about 25 years, though, and not 7 like on my daughter's 05 W203.
