been having this on and off
is this the chain? gets louder with high rpms in morning..it lasted 3 mins once. since my mom is a poor ******* and i have to help her with money. the replacement has been pushed back months
85k miles. i went 11k miles on an oil change with a non mercedes oil filter
it went away for a while when i topped off the oil
now i've noticed if i autobarned my car on the highway. next morning noise is gone. i have been using techron ever since 40k miles

Not really. It sounded like a really muffled engine idling. If your idling and it's making that noise there may be a different problem.
The rattling sound happens for just a couple seconds at start-up. Once oil pressure builds(or the chain jumps teeth) the noise stops.

Sammy. For the timing chain noise let the car stand overnight. Then start it with the drivers door open so you can hear properly. If you get a loud rattle for a couple of seconds that then shuts up when the oil pressure hits maximum you know you have a stretched chain. It can also be a rattling cam adjuster but you learn to know the difference. Take no chances. If your car does this pull a new chain before it's too late.
