this is crazy

i've asked all the indy mercedes shops and mercedes dealerships. They will not admit that the timing tensioner and timing chain fail and cause the intake valves to bend. my moms friend who works on cars said yea of course those are known to fail. this is crazy. the mechanic knows about mbworld and goes on it. but yet will not admit the problem. the guy even dissed everyone on the forums saying they dont no ****.

lol they think their gunna get me for 4k.

of course they will deny it just like 'Murica!!!

but indy shop really? the indy shop in SJ told me how much he hate the M271 engine coz they explode, he loves the classic M111 engine

you don't have to worry as it only affects the M271 engine and you have the M272. Your problem will be with the balance shafts

Funny thing is the corporate owned dealership in Toronto also said that they have never had issues with this either and they see a lot of cars with M271 engines

I work at a MB dealership and one of the most scariest/expensive thing that can happen to a m272 is the balance shafts.

Well that's partly true.. no matter what forum you go to. You have knowledgeable people.. and you have a lot of whom are not. But someone who has a head on their shoulders can hopefully decipher what is helpful and what is not.

Knowledge happened. =)

Good luck with your car.. worse case if they want you to spend 4k.. I'd say drop in a M113 V8 in its place but unfortunately your trans wont connect to it.
