W203 issues with MAF and tail lights
Hi.
I have owned my c200k for about 20 months, and the winter 2012 gave my cars some hard time.
1st problem:
I have active "walk-me-home" set on 30 secs, but my tail light dont turn off. After a few month with "will they or wont they" turn off its been a few weeks with allways staying on.
My workaround has been to disconnect the backlights when im away more then a few hours from the car.
I have had my local Merc-retailer shop have an go on it, but basicly no straight answers there. maybe its the brain.
The "auto" settings on light have no effekt.
If i remove the bulbs, the "failsafe" kicks in, and the upper lights starts up.
2nd problem:
The "check enigine light" is on, and showing code for MAF (P0172 01/01). After i tryed cleaning this myself, as internet told me to do, and after i delted the lgith and it came back on. I then baught a brand new one and replaced it (this was done at a garage/shop. a $1400 operation) but the light comming back on. Same code (P0172 01/01).
My car is a C200 Komp. w203 from 2000. Its an import from germany to norway. It has an aftermarket HU-stereo, so i cannot manange some of the software in the car (or can i?).
Exept the rust, the car is working great.
Hope to get some tips on how to troubleshoot or fix my problems.

check your bulb socket connection that the bulb plugs into. theyve been know to overheat and melt sometimes causing the connection to remain current causing the light to stay on constantly.

$1400 for a MAF WTF that is way to expensive the part should only cost $150-300 MAX and as for labor it took me 10 minutes on my w203 to remove my maf clean in at put it back and I had never done it before.

Yes, wtf $1400? 
This is what I got quoted from a garage to clean my intercooler/change out maf also. I now have a genuine VDO maf coming from ebay maf shop for $300. 50% on genuine price down here...

I know its was expensive, and i feel ripped off since it did not fix the problem.
The MAF it self was about $900-1000, and the job was the rest.
And i know its easy to fit, cause i tryed to clean the old one first.
It is VERY expencive to have a car in norway. :-( but kinda have to, since the public transportation is so poorly designed (in the area i live).
