I would also have it checked out. If you have a big chunk missing, you might want to check for cracks in the barrel.

I had one of mine fixed at Wheel Collision - many shops have arrangements with them, so you could probably drop off the wheel at a shop close to you. Don't know if wheels with chunks missing are good candidates, though.

thanks for all the info guys...since i have to keep the car for another 3 years anyway, maybe i should just wait until then. i don't know, we'll see. i was checking the rim out yesterday and the damage really isn't huge but enough to get on my nerves when i just wash it and it looks all pretty except for the rim. anyway, thanks for the help and have an excellent day!!1

Sorry to hear about your rim. BTW, my wife often gets TOO CLOSE to curbs and scrapes her wheels. I know what you mean about it pissing you off -- especially when you wash it and see it up close.

On her last car, I had to buy a new wheel 3 weeks after we got it because she knocked a curb and left a chunk out of the wheel I couldn't stand to look at. "Only" $275 -- they felt bad for me and gave me the dealership employee price.

I keep telling her, "don't try to get so close"! One day she'll listen .
