C Class European Delivery available at 5%

discount...check out
http://www.mbusa.com/brand/container...rder/index.jsp

MB finally got wise again and offer discounts for european delivery for C, SLK, and CLK cars. BMW and Volvo have been giving euro delivery discount for years but MB discontinued the discount several years ago. Porsche also offers without discount but Audi discontinued euro delivery totally. I am so glad MB reinstated their euro delivery with discount. I am going to combine a euro vacation when I pick up my new C class since i get to stay free with friends. I have picked up a BMW in Munich in the past...it was a lot of fun driving on the autobahn. Anyone considering euro delivery with the MB or have thoughts to share?

I'd really love to buy a new car and pick it up in Germany in 2006, then take it to the World Cup.

Discount on MSRP but not on options when you click the link. Strange. Maybe now some dealers in some parts of the country will lower their pricing a bit now.

I've had that idea for a while. I just went in May to pick up my BMW.

True, if you consider only the car. But trains and busses are not cheap in northern europe like they used to be.
Having a car - with insurance - for two weeks is worth several thousand. Also they include two nights at nice hotels that is worth about $400-500 more.

actually, you can get another 1500 or 2000

off your negotiated price (even if it's below US invoice) if you do euro delivery. you must know the trick that the euro delivery cars do not come out of the dealer's allocation. so dealer doesn't mind filling up paper work for small profit. more importantly, there is a separate invoice and msrp pricing for euro delivery cars, which is not published but it is substantially lower than the pricing for US delivery cars.

Euro Delivery? Its where you can opt to pick up your car at the customer center in Sindelfingen, Germany. The destination charge is waived and you are allowed to keep your car in the country for 4 weeks w/o paying for insurance. M-B ships it back at no additional charge and you pick it up at the dealer.

Its really a great deal, as Robert pointed out its worth alot of $$$ to have a car to use in Europe, so if you were going to go on a vacation anyway, and you were going to buy a car, its a great deal. We did it for our 02 C230 and all-around it was a great experience.

Euro Delivery also includes the E Class which I will be picking up and I hope that I enjoy the "E" as much as I do my C320. I'm really serious about this concern. Remember that you not only save tghe 5% off the base price but also save the $720 delivery charge. They have, however cut us back to one free hotel night.

How about Calif taxes? How does that 8.x% work into the equation?

There is no escaping sales taxes. You'll have to pay them before you can get the car titled and licensed. That is the way it has worked in the three states I have lived in. I'm sure California is no different.

MB-JIM & AndrewK...are you sure MB waives the

$720 destination charge for euro delivery. my dealer claims that they still charge the $720 for euro delivery. TIA.

Thats strange... we did Euro Delivery last in June 02 and they were waiving the dest. charge then, but maybe its changed since then.

BTW MB-JIM I know I am shamelessly politicking but other members have stuff like "Proud Conservative" and "NRA Member" is their sigs so I dont see mine as being any worse...
