fuel stabilizer vs. techron
The c240 is not driven much and I am worried about the fuel in the tank getting old. I use chevron or shell 91 and I use chevron techron regularly. Do I need to add fuel stabilizer (sta-bil?) or is the techron good enough?
any thoughts? Thanks.

I have a lot of seldom used gasoline equipment. Since the alcohol was added to the gas in California we had lots of trouble with fuel oxidizing, and varnishes and sticky stuff was everywhere. We used a product suggested by our chemist called N,N'-Di-2-butyl-1,4-phenylenediamine that is a red colored amine family anti-oxidant. It was mixed with naphtha (as a carrier) and mixed with the fuel. It looks and smells a lot like the Stabil product. Techron is also an amine family product, and is probably doing the same work.
I also found that when we knew a 500Kw generator was not needed for a couple of months, just filling the tank right up the filler pipe eliminated the air above the fuel and it did not oxidize. No varnish, no sticky stuff, and the gas did not smell bad.
In your situation I would just keep the tank uber full while the car is inactive, and save your money for some $400 fine cognac.

+1^. Keep your tank full. Techron's primary function is not as a fuel stabaliser but it will help.
