04 C240 and SmartKey programming??

I'm about to pickup my 2004-C240 and have read numerous threads as to the SmarkKey programming and it's many options.

Please help me put together a checklist of what I should ask for given that I'll normally drive the car but my wife and son may use it occasionally.

The car is Brilliant Silver with charcoal interiors, auto trans. and (comfort, lighting and sunroof) packages.

simple....all the info

are all in the owner's MANUAL. Check the index whenever you have question and all the answer you need are all written. That's what I did. Enjoy your new car.

Many options? i wouldn't really say that... unless i missed a lot of things when i looked at the manual. Opening all windows, programming to make it open one door or all doors etc...

adjustable in the display screen: each key memorize different setting.

adjustable on the key fob: change mode from unlock all door to just the driver door on first click and vise versa by holding lock and unlock buttom at the same time for about 10 second. Then you'll see the led on the key flashes

There aren't too many settings that are set with the actual key with the exception of what one person has said above... unlock driver door only with the button press or all doors.

I was surprised myself as my BMW has a LONG checklist of features that are dealer set on the keys. The MB has some owner controllable settings via the computer/steering controls.

Hope this helps.

Why are you buying a C240 2004 when a C230 Sedan offers so much more for less price? I bought a 240 then the C230 came out and the only difference is the engine and for the difference in HP you can get a faster and more packages for less $$$. When I bought my car I thought I was getting a pretty good deal but when I saw the new 230 sedans I relized that I was losing money in capabilites. Yes I know the C230' s have a smaller engine but it has more HP and with a manual tanny it blow my 2003 C240 out of the water. Plus for an extra 2k ( still less 2k for what I paid for my car) you can get bi-direction Zenon and some other sweet stuff. I'm really tempted in terning my car in for a C230 sedan with all the good stuff.

Long List?

My BMW can open all windows, open trunk, open driver door, open all door and is tied to the memory seat. I don't know were the long list comes from, but I have not seen it, unless your are talking about the dealer programming list such as DRL's and such which they do free the first time and charge you if you want to re-program. The benz does onboard (better since you don't have to bother with dealer) BTW I have an e46 coupe. One thing I like is the fact you can close all windows/sunroof, in my Bimmer I can only open, the good thing I can open at any angle (radio frequency) vs standing in front of the door (infrared).
