*Noobie* cruise control issue, can't find thread

Having a recent issue with my cruise control kicking itself off when the car goes down a hill or wants to slow itself down to maintain speed. Never seemed to do this before and the only thing I've changed is the width of the rear tires. Could this be it? Is there a thread I'm missing about this issue? I don't have a computer and use my iPhone to browse these threads so searching through 500+ pages for the thread I'm looking for has given me NOOBIE trouble. Thanks for any help

The cruise control is designed to slow the car to maintain speed, so that would be the behavior when you're going downhill. Can you describe what happens when it is "kicking off?"

I know that the cruise slows the car to maintain speed down hills etc and then accelerates the car uphill to maintain. What I mean by "kicking off" is that when my cars cruise is on everything is fine until it needs to slow itself, at that point the cruise doesn't just slow the vehicle, it disengages completely like I hit the brake or turned it off. I turn the cruise back on and the next time it wants to slow down to maintain it completely shuts down again.

Oh, I see what you're saying now. Sorry. Someone else may have to help you on this one.

If there is any sort of ESP issue, CC deactivates. Are you having any trouble with that system? Your car only downshifts to slow down so this doesn't make much sense.
