Bypass 4matic?
The other noise is a grinding while turning. This appears to come from the front differential area. How do I determine if it is the front differential or the transfer case? Are there any diy instructions for the differential replacement?
In looking at the system, I had a thought of disabling the whole front wheel drive of the car, by removing the front drive shaft and removing the front axles. Does this sound like a far fetched way of determining a bad front differential? Could the system operate as a rear wheel drive using this setup?
