Some bi0tch broke my passenger side mirror to the point where it looks destroyed. I can still move it up and down but thats about it. How much it costs (with labor+tax)?

Assuming only cosmetic things are broken (e.g. mirror itself, housing, etc.) then do it yourself - it's easy!

Well I was going to take a picture but my friend put it back together pretty well with a lot of tape and snapping in. But before it was f'd up pretty bad. The whole mirror came out of its white cover and was just hanging out. The glass is shattered. The wires were out of their place (the mirror wont light up and inside the car the arrow flashes abnormally fast). And basically the white cover was seperated from rest of mirror. Pretty f'd up, I'd say.

side mirrors are reallllly expensive to replace..esp. if the driver side mirror is broken. the passenger side mirror cost about 80 bucks to replace, but the driver side is like 350.. suuux.. mine broke twice on me..that's like 700 right there..

It cost me about $150 to replace the passenger side mirror cover and mirror when I broke mine. I got the parts from Hoehn Mercedes in CA. The install is really quite simple.

But $350 is not that bad. I heard an estimate of $500-$700 just for mirror alone which doesn't even inlude tax and labor.

Also is it something they can fix in one day if I take it to the dealer or will they give me a loaner for a while?

I was leaving college parking lot once when some stupid girl opened her Jag door and slammed my driver side mirror as I was passing.
I was so angry at my professor at that time... and she just almost made me explode.
believe it or not... I didn't even bother saying anything to her. Just looked at her and drove away.

she broke the signal light and scratched the paint. found that out after arriving home. LOL.

crazy...i was just going o post on this topic. an old woman opened her door into my passenger side mirror last week. the thing just exploded. the lady didnt even realize she hit my car as i was driving by. she was ok, but my mirror was smashed. the entire internal framework was smashed the outer shell came off and has a big crack through it. i've been puting off going to the dealer because i thought it would be an axorbinant violation of my pocket book. this doesnt sound so bad.

Well I don't wanna compare damages but my mirror too split into two parts -- the outer white cover and inside part with the wires were just hanging out seperately. BTW, does your left blinker now flash like crazy too? ****, these *** old people should stop driving!!

AM I to understand that the driver side mirror should be more expensive versus the passenger side? is it because of the dimming mirror?

The driver side mirror is more expensive than the passenger side mirror by a substantial amount due the the autodimming feature.

That's interesting to know. Can someone atleast quote me an estimate ...I will call dealer Monday but I'd like to know in advance just in case the old woman wants to call and settle it w/o me reporting it. I told her $900 at the scene so she flipped out on me and that is why I filed for the police report.

But seriously I heard that the mirror goes for $700-$750 + the cost of labor and taxes I figure it was going to be somewhere around $900.

I once caught the mirror on a Chevy Barreta rental car, in the mid 80's on a pole in my carport while backing out.
It bent the whole thing back into the door, destroying the mirror, and housing, as well as damaging the sheet metal in the door.

Having read right around that time of how the rental car companies tended to screw people on repairs,
I opted to pay for the repair out of my own pocket.

Initial estimate were over 500...on a Chevy piece of crap car mind you ( I say this only because.....seen one lately?)
but my old next door neighbor had a bodyshop.

It ended up being like 200, only because i got the parts wholesale, and the labor cheap too...
required paint and bodywork...
too bad I lost track of that guy.

So 900 might even be low.
I took my car in to get it fixed and noticed the speaker grill was damaged by the seatbelt.
The service advisor agrred to fix it, and said, he hoped they sold the grill seperately....the door panel alone costs 800 bucks.
Thank god for warranties...now they're replacing the seatbelt so it retracts better.

So, got estimate yet?
Better not wait too long...

Well I'm glad someone here can confirm that $900 might not be that off. I was quoted by a friend mechanic that it will cost HIM about $700-750 wholesale to get the mirror so I figure the dealership will definately rape me. Anyway, I would have already called the old hag about paying me so insurance doesn't get involved but the PO who did the report messed up so now I have to speak with him, hopefully, he'll change the police report a bit because it is totally not in my favor despite me being the "victim."
