Installed Digital Climate Control

I just finished installing the digital climate control. My car is a 2005 c230K with the sport package post facelift. The sticker on the door shows manufacturing date of November 2004. The model number of the AC unit I purchased is 2038304485 and I believe came out of a CLK. The unit turns on and works just as it seems to. When I manually set the air to be diverted to the feet, windshield, and to the regular vents it all works as before. The only problem I have is that when I press the recirculating and front de-foger button for more than 5 seconds to reset the system it does not stop flashing. With the analog unit it would finish in about 25 seconds. I know all the flaps are working. My question is If I normalize the flaps through the star first will the rest via the recirculating and front de-foger work after I normalize through Star? Reading some of your swaps some people state it does normalize via the two buttons mentioned earlier and some people have to have it normalized via the star. I would love to know from those who couldn't normalize via the two buttons first and then normalized through the star if after normalizing through star the button method worked?

Thanks guys!

AFAIK it should never stop flashing because you're missing 4 of the motors it's trying to look for.

That is what I thought as well. However I have seen some post by some people that they changed to the digital one and upon installation they did the reset via the two buttons and it neutralized.

YOUR UNIT IS LOOKING FOR OTHER STEPPER motors that arnt there,it should manage the flow of air in the car without the missing motors. i read that some controllers won't work and some will, if you try to reset and it doesnt work then you might have to try another unit for your car, i changed mine and got lucky and it all worked, i posted it in the w203 forum somewhere if you want to look for the model number i used. i got lucky.

Yup. Steve (MBenzNL) tried three different digital climate controls on my car and none of them worked properly. Looked awesome though.

I have the same part number unit installed in my 07 and experienced the same issue (lights flashing for eternity.) When normalizing through STAR, it goes through the whole process, alerts me about not being able to communicate with the missing stepper motors and then functions as normally as it can. I have recently added the sun sensor and associated wiring and seems to function as intended also.

Any difference in how well it regulates temperatures with the sun sensor connected?

I haven't had it on any long trips since installing the sun sensor. That is where I would expect to really validate its effectiveness. I can tell by feel that there is a difference in temps from the vents, but that could be my mind wanting to tell a difference.
