HU Comparison: Blaupunkt Los Angeles MP72, Alpine CDA 9815 or Nakamichi I700

I understand from some that Nakamichi has got one of the best HU sound quality in the world and often used in competitions.

What I am confused is I am able to get either the Blaupunkt Los Angeles MP72 or Alpine CDA 9815 now. A lot of people told me the LA MP72 sounds a lot better than the CDA 9815 but I like the look of the Alpine a lot. Can anyone confirms this? That the Blaupunkt LA MP72 really sounds a LOT better then the Alpine to sacrifice away the alpine aethetic looks?

You best bet is to go to a store that sells both and compare them on the display running thru the same setup, amps & speakers.

Isn't the phrase "alpine aethetic looks" an oxymoron?

To install the Los Angeles, you will need the Metra facia plate for the dash since the Blaupunkt is the standard DIN size. You will probably also need the Schoche VW wiring harness and antenna cable adaptors.

I got the dash kit now but why do I need a harness? Can't I just strip the wire and connect it with the new HU's socket? Also is the attenna socket that different? Scoche VW harness as in Volkswagen harness? Can you give me the product code for it? Thanks.

Also, is there any aftermarket HU that fits all the factory connections?

MB uses the same antenna connectors as VW and they are quite different than those used by most other car companies. They will not connect to aftermarket headunits.

I don't know the part numbers. Scosche changed their web site to a pay site, and I'll be damned if I'm paying 15 bucks to find the part numbers.
