Lights dim when sub bumps hard?

I may have just never had a 1000-watt JL 13w7 in a car before, but when I turn it up hard, each time a deep bass note is hit, the headlights dim on the car...

Is this normal?

your subs are eating up the juice. Get a capacitor.

Go w/whoever installed it. What else are you running? Reason I ask is to find out how many farats you need. W7 13"?!? Hmmm. I got 2 12W6v2 w/a couple of amps and Im running a 10 farat cap and I have no issues w/dimming...just w/other things...

Right now it's just the stock system + 1000-watt J-L amp, and one 13w7 sub. Any idea what kind of cap i need?

How do you hook it up?

You sure you're turning it up high enough??? :p

Anyways, you may want 1 or 2 farad caps installed, depending on how severe the dimming is. And get your audio installer to put the cap in for you; one wrong move during installation and you'll have yourself an electrical fire while you're driving down the street.

in my opinion i think for the best results, you should get 2 caps or run an xtra batt. i had a 1000watt amp b4 in my car running 2 audiobahn dual caps. if you want i am selling the dual caps if you are interested......

i will have about 3,000watts running in my car after it comes out if the system shop..

I have a W7 12"

You need to get a extra battery... even with my 10 farad PG cap it still flicks... but when i added my battery everything works fine!

Hey! We have more or less the same setup(kinda). I wanted to get the 20 farat cap but I thought it was overkill!

I would recommend an extra battery like seandan said. I run an orion HCCA 15 and my lights flickered, but after the Optima, no more.
