Spark plug question...Is this Normal???

Changed out the plugs on my 07 c280 @ close to 100K miles on service A. There was oil present on the threads of the plugs, all of em....is this normal or is my car running too lean or vice versa.......I have changed many plugs but none have come out like this, smelled funny too.....attached are some pictures please advise......

no codes no check engine light....mpgs might be in 18/20s range....

I've seen cracked head gaskets cause that, also when a car is running lean. To be honest it could be a whole mess of things.

It seems unlikely that it was caused by a cracked head - especially in the absence of any other symptoms. I would suspect the oil was somebody's idea of anti-seize.

It's the tips that count. The dirty threads are from anti seize agent or similar or plugs being incorrectly torqued either too loose or too tight allowing very minor leak.

From what I can see of the tips they all look fine. This is not a fuel trim issue at all.

Agreed. The tips actually look decent. Electrodes are clean and look about right in color IMO. Just looks like someone gooped up the threads-just as mudbug suggests
