You guys are lucky you don't live in DC area. The lowest quote I got so far was $650

On this note, can someone recommend an installer in DC area?

Changing a set of springs shouldnt take more than 3 hours@$80/hr, i.e. USD240. I think USD650 is a bit scary!! Either that shop is a complete rip off or they have no idea of how to do the job.

yep anywhere from $200-300 is reasonable (closer to 200 the better). I'd always ask shop (before bringing the car) of how much labor they charge per hour (of course hopefully they've worked on newer MBs before), then ask how much for spring installation, then mention the car. If the price isnt in the above range ask what you're being charged for, you have the right to know.

*Vadim...did you go to a dealership? springs install for $650????

So is there any proven problems with shock wear after lowering?

Bagwell, did you go to Carboys or somewhere else? Let me know, I'm always interested in new shops and Brandon from Kleeman is looking for a good shop to be an affiliate installer of their parts. Email me: kkyaw@houston.rr.com . Thanx.

not just one shop - *every* more or less reputable shop in the area I called had quoted between $650 and $720, ~6hrs x $100-$110

About shock wear. I'm really not worried about it. I'm still running my stock shocks, when they go out, I'm gonna get some koing yellows!!!

Vadim, i gotta ask, is that including the springs or not? If not, you may wish to find a charitable and knowledgable fellow on MBworld, pay for roundtrip tickets (at most $250), buy springs yourself (under $250), give him a place to stay for the nite, buy dinner, then u guys can do it together. All for under $650 including springs! And I'd trust the work of a fellow MBworld member over some shop who wanna charge 6 hrs labor at $100 an hour!

That's without springs (already have them). I ended up calling a shop I found at Audiworld.com thinking that the price might be lower since there are many more Audi tuners compared to MB people, but they quoted the same price. Insane. So far all mods I have on the car I have done myself, but spring installation is something I have no hands-on experience in, and not at all sure if it is a driveway-type job.

wow. I've never known that lowering your car cost that much. Need to start saving some more I guess.

Spring Install

My experience with lowering springs is only with my past car (an Audi A4). The cost for the spring and shock install on the Audi was $280 including an alignment. Although from reading the threads on installing springs on Mercs it seems the job is a little more involved than Audi's resulting in a higher cost for the install....

Just dont go to a place who charge by hour.
I think around $200 is about right.
People in DC area, if theres no installer.
I suggest go to the dealer and try to speak with
one of the mechanic, maybe they want to do some outside job.
for extra money. I did this when I was in Austin,TX.
And they charge me cheap. Goodluck.

dude, you guys are seriously getting ripped off. why dont you watch them change springs? it only takes 30-45 minutes. if you are in the LA area, i could refer you to a place that would do it for $75! total price of springs and install should be around $350
