Just broke all the pin on the top trim piece. Arrgh.
They were stuck into these clips, didn't want to come out.
MB docs suck. Just say "remove side panelling left and right".
Crap. Don't want to hose the side panels.

Ha, no. I'm on the new one removing the cut harness.
I managed to break one of the spade connectors off the window for the
defroster, but it appears, I'll be able to glue it back on using something like this,
conductive glue.

EDIT: Found this at Oreily. O' Happy days. 12 bucks though. Geez. Oh well.
http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...351/N0655.oap?..
Cut harness is out of the new hatch....I feel like the guy in predator holding the human spine.....yarrrrr!
New hatch is prepped for install.

Old hatch is off, but a piece of the snorkel is taped from under the headliner, and I'm having trouble getting to it, have the trim pieces removed from the rear pillars....now what?

Well, it's on the car. No wiring hooked up yet, but got the 'snorkel' over the wires.
Used duct tape as suggested and Windex for lube.
I hope the wires all still work when I hook everything up.
I broke a contact off the glass for the defrost, meant to glue that 1st thing with that special glue for $12.
Hope it sticks upside down.
No pics yet. The 'snorkel' thing took a lot of time. As in hours.
Those license plate light connectors are a beetch.
The 1st one, I managed to pass it through but it broke in the process.
So, the 2nd one, I decided to remove the pins from connector, I mean, it's only 2 wires eh? but damn, the pins do not want to come out. So, I ended up sacrificing one from the extra cut harness to see what the deal is, it takes 2 paper clips and a lot of fiddling to get them to release. It actually took 2 people, one pushing on the paper clips and one pulling the wire. My GF is demanding recognition for her efforts and she is watching me write this, so yes, she really was a huge help and actually helped me lift the new hatch onto the car.
Regarding the connector, still have one good connector shell from the cut harness to repair the one I broke.
The hatch is not lining up yet, no latch or handle, not sure exactly how to make it line up good. I was so very careful putting it down the 1st time, was afraid the glass might catch on the edge but it's ok. Except it's actually sticking out a little, haven't tighted the bolts yet.
Anyway, I will say it looks good.
Maybe go out and look again, after I finish my margie.
The horrible mess that once was just seems like a distant nightmare, except for the fact that the old one is still here.
What do I do with the old one anyway?
I mean, after I strip all the vaguely useable parts off it.
Can't wait to finish it up tomorrow, then get the glass re-tinted and remove that annoying Zero from 230 just to annoy you guys.

All done! Well, mostly.
Well, it's on, all the electrics work, except for the defroster, still need to glue the contact for that.
Took it to the carwash for good dooche.
She's lookin' good.
Still not completely satisfied with the alignment, going to tweak that, and haven't reinstalled any trim yet, till I'm sure everything is perfect, and reapply felt to all the surfaces that make contact with another surface.
BTW- Stick on felt can be purchased at lamp stores in sheets. Eliminates squeaks from the trim.
Haven't mounted the rentech wing either...here's a couple pics.

The car is looking very fine now. You did a good job.
Now you need a license frame that says "If I mount a set of wings I know she could fly."

Kompressor Scrabble
OK, this is stooo pid. Stripped the old hatch of everything vaguely useful and
not so useful and dropped it off at the local recycling place.
Now, GF and I are sitting here with the letters off the old hatch, trying to see what can be spelled:
Opressor is kinda cool.
C23 Opressor ? OK, I'll never hear the end of it.
Mr OK ?
Mr Poser ?
Sok Me?
Cops Sok ?
Kosromper ?
MoosE PeCkrrs ? (for you guys up north)
Another margarita and I'll achieve the perfect combinations of letters.
Open to suggestion.
I don't often drink tequila and play scrabble, but when I do, I do it with a woman with sexy shoes.
Stay thirsty my friends!
Bonus points if you can name all the tequila's in the 2nd photo.
Personal invite if you have drank them, but it's BYOB and you have to share.

Yeah, that's what I have on the driver's side, which had started to peel up off the hatch, from the original epoxy. Was just trying to make sure I had done the right thing, instead of trying to re-epoxy it back on.
