2004 C230 steering wheel noise when turning
I'm about to roll over 70,000 miles and the past 2 weeks I've noticed that when my car is on an incline or decline and I am turning the steering wheel (i.e. getting in and out of the garage) at a slow speed, maybe 5 mph, I hear almost like a cranking noise that follows the turning of the steering wheel. I wish I could explain it better because it isn't a clunk or a screech it almost sounds like a rubber band being stretched out too far and it makes that stretching elastic noise. I had my bushings replaced by the dealer about 3,000 miles ago along with the rotors and pads (I didnt feel like doing them this time and the dealer gave me a good price) so I'm not sure if it could have something to do with that. Anyone have any ideas what it could be? I notice it only when leaving working because the parking lot is at an angle and coming out of my garage because my driveway is on a steeper incline.

Does it kinda sound like a droning WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH?
If it does sound like a droning WEEEEEEEEAAAAAHHHHHHHH then that means you need power steering fluid. Your pump is running a bit dry. You might have a leak somewhere. Though my car does the same thing, I have no leaks, and my PS fluid is full. It does it for a couple minutes until I'm driving and then it stops.

It may be the same problem I posted about. Have a buddy turn the wheel back and forth when parked and idling. Reach in and lightly hold the coil springs to see if you can feel the "stick-slip" that happens where the coil end contacts a seat.

I will try that out. Thank you.
Another question, did not want to start a new thread, I have a really bad rough idling problem with my first cold start of the day. It only happens when the temperature outside is under 65 degrees. My car is garaged. Its a rough idle until the car falls below 1,000 RPMs. If I give the car gas above 2,000 RPsS the car does not rumble but otherwise when left alone to fall below 1,000 RPMs the whole car shakes. Any ideas?
