Exclamation New Campaign for M271- Cam Sensors & Wiring Harness

So there is a new "unannounced" campaign from MB to finally fix the leaking cam sensors and the damage it does to the wiring harness. This is an unannounced campaign, so you will need to specifically ask for this from your SA, as MB did not send out notices to owners or make any public announcement.

I am not sure of the campaign #, or the MY's covered, so call your SA with your VIN and check. I have heard this should cover 03-05 M271's, however I can't confirm this.

The dealer will replace the Camshaft Adjustment Solenoids and install new adapter harnesses free of charge.

Now if they would only replace the Fading Multi Function Display on the pre-facelift ...

That means there must be a TSB to dealers. Let's try & establish the number.

I am going into the dealer next week for these repairs. I will post part #'s and campaign number if no one posts before then.

Is this campaign # applicable to all countries, or just the U.S.A.?

I'm wondering if this is good for Canada.

I believe the sticky you mentioned covered a different campaign that had to do with a supercharger hose.

The question is whether or not this supercedes a previous service campaign.

I already brought my car in once for this; does that mean I have to bring it in again? Sometimes the same part gets updated multiple times.

i blew an 02 sensor a few months back... could this be related to the leaky cam shaft?

i just heard about this today and made an appointment at the dealership monday to fix. i wish i could have them pay me for the 02 sensor too.

excuse my novice question: could these two be related?

Cam Sensors/Isolation wire/

New Campaign for M271- Cam Sensors & Wiring Harness-100_3148.jpgMy 2004.5 c230K SS has 42000 miles, and have no warning lights. Checked both Cam Sensors(info from forum) by removing the plugs, and found both has residue oil. Replaced both sensors, and added Isolation wires. This is my second MB, and am now thinking that I made a mistake with this model, with all the problems I see on the Forums. I bought this car second hand, and only have had it for a few months. I trust my Honda more. Checked with the Dealer and there are no recalls or TSB for this car.
My question: is this car worth keeping or is it Junk, and I should get rid of it??

That is really the only issues i know of with the c230s. just keep maintenance up and you should be fine.

My 03 C230K has 121,000 miles on it with no problems. My wife's Acura TSX has been more problematic. The car is not junk, you just have to hope you got a good one.

This car is so clean and perfect, with a clean car fax. I just had to have it, and am getting 31 to 32 MPG on the HWY. I guess I may have became a little worried and paranoid for nothing, but still replaced the magnet sensors, and added the wire extensions for added insurance. Did my first oil change with recommended oil, and next will be in 7500 miles. Just moved back to the the states from living in Dresden,Germany. I had a E200 Mercedes diesel company lease car there, and loved it. So when I seen this little c230kss and the good condition bought it.Easy on insurance/Tax/MPG/etc.. I am very happy to hear that your Mercedes has been reliable! Thanks for the info!
