Just so you know (I think you live in the US) we don't have the m271 evo, just the m271. That being said, if you're looking to do performance upgrades then yes you'll have to look for used parts. The tuners that used to make stuff for this engine almost don't anymore. I do know that you can still get the kleeman headers, and pulley kit but you'll pay top dollar for it. It is hard to find that stuff used.

What you can do is get you ecu flashed by either eurocharged, or OE tuning. IMHO they offer the biggest gains for around $400...as opposed to a couple of hp fr headers and a pulley kit that can run you over $1000 (even used) and cause you to fail emissions. Depending on where you live that may not matter to you, I'm just saying.

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply and what is the diference between m271evo and m271 also i have found the following parts with some modification required kleeman still does boost kit 1695 with kbox or 2195 with kbox and ecu tune eurocharged has ecu tune for 299 haltec has does a user customizable ecu that bypasses stock one while using the stock ecu to keep dash read outs correct it is 1600 some mod. Required with the use of the haltec ecu (sport tune 1000) that would allow me to run a msd ignition and account for higher boost preasures so i could remove the eaton mp45 charger and run either turbo or a centrifagul charger which is my goal crane says with enough money i can have my cams reground for more lobe duration, lift, and separation but that is somewhere in the 2500 range not including the cams since the would have to be custom made or ground but if i can find other parts such as pistons and stronger rods if needed i would like to bore the block to 2.0L and run the haltec ecu with msd ls coils with thier DLS ignition cams from crane and either a procharger or vortech charger and maybe drill and splay the mains to make 4bolt mains if they are not already stronger in some way ill be going with arp fasteners of course my goal is 300+ rwhp.
Would love any opinions and input on this its gonna be exspensive but then agian how many c230 do you see producing that much power

find a used C32, you will have more than enough power and won't have the hassle and cost in trying to get a lot more power of the 1.8. You will end up with a reliable, emission passing motor that is smooth across all rev ranges. It is hard to outdo a team of engineers by going it yourself in your garage. At the end of the day it will cost you a ton of money for a lumpy motor that it and its other components will not be reliable to handle a 50% increase in power

Boom Vang, With all due respect to your 934 posts AND 7 years PLUS of membership to this forum, some people like to do things differently.

I happen to own a weekend gas guzzler, a highly modified '93 mazda Rx-7 that makes over 700 rwhp and is water injected, has a huge turbo, and more money sunken into it than I can remember to account for. Some of us don't want ALL of our cars to get 8 MPG!

For me, the C230 is my "Prius". That being said, I still like my cars to have some pep to them so yes I like to do performance upgrades but don't necessarily want to go out and buy a C32 get it? I and may be the OP would also like to have GOOD average MPG WITH THE OPTION of mashing the pedal and getting thrown back into the seat a little.

I make a 120 mile commute every workday and so when I do I like to enjoy this:
m271 info and parts-mpg.jpg

Maybe the OP is looking for something like that too.

C230Kss:

You know that this is basically the same engine on the W204 TURBOCHARGED version right?

Find a wrecked W204 with the M271 and you can go turbo instead of superchager a lot easier. Trust me I've had brainstorming sessions of my own... but I have to remember that this is my "Prius" lol... good luck!

M271 is the engine on the W203 (cars we have). M271 evo is the engine on the W204 (turbochaged C250) version. Same one I was referring to earlier.
