C230 Battery Failed Test?
Hi There! I just took my 2006 C230 in for Service A and they said my battery failed the test and needs to be replaced immediately. This was surprising, because I've had no signs of a dead battery - the car starts quickly, no light dimming. I asked them to test it again and again they said it failed the test. Anyone else experience this? My car has 71,000 miles on it. If the battery is really about to die, does a warning pop up on the screen?
Thanks so much!

These 100Ah Benz batteries usually go 8 years without trouble. But if the battery is failing a load test it is on it's way out. It might soldier on for a while but could let you down without warning.

My dealer told me the same thing, and that was a year and a half ago. If it's your only car you might want to get it replaced, but since I have a backup I'm just going to run mine until it dies. When it finally goes just call Mercedes and they'll come to your and replace it for the cost of the battery only.

Extreme heat and cold are a batteries worst enemies next to long periods of no use. Here in Canada 5 maybe 6 years of daily use is a good battery. You can put money on the fact that your battery will always give out just when it is most needed. A dying battery is also an increased load on the charging system. Most Benzs are energy hogs so the choice is yours.
