Question about stock audio system...

In my '04 230k sedan, the stock sound system seems to have extremely sensetive tweeters....I mean sometimes they are so sharp I can year a sort of crackling in them...I thought this might be the radio as it has a slightly crackling static to them....I don't know maybe it's me, but it takes away from the overall sound experience because I don't know if it's a defect of some kind....Anyone else hear a slight "crackle" when listening to the sound system through the tweeters?

I don't experience a crackle from my tweeter and I listen to a wide variety of music. I would imagine that MB wouldn't go through the trouble to change tweeters between the '03 and the '04.
Does it happen all the time or only with a specific type of music?

Mine seem fine. I listen to a lot of jazz which can exercise the tweeters without any problems, or deterioration of sound.

I also seem to be in the minority, but I have no problem with the sound quality of the standard audio. I was actually surprised to find a separate sub-woofer in the trunk. Unless you are doing the booming, can hear it three blocks away bass, I see no reason to alter the standard system.

Don't judge the audio quality using the radio.
Instead, get a few CD's - some for bass and some for treble.

I personally use Enya or Mariah Carey for trebles, and what you should do is sit in the drivers seat and play around with the bass and treble settings on your deck.
The reason that your tweeters have a slight crackling sound is because they are too loud... an audio system should have a perfect matching volume on the low, mid and high ranges.

When both the treble and bass settings are adjusted correctly, most music you play should play correctly.
