Question: heated seats

(Yes, I did a search, no useful result)

Hi all, I hope someone has the answer to this. My 2003 C Class has the heated front seats option. The driver's side heats up both the seat bottom and the back. The passenger side only heats up the bottom, not the back. I wonder if this is the way it is meant to be or do I have a malfunction?

Thanks a lot!

Ok, mine (05) does both seat back and bottom, BUT the seat back takes noticeably longer to come on....

MB’s
I ran out into the garage and tried this as well. My W203 (2005) when the car is fully warmed up I turned them on and both the back and bottom heat up fine. Might be the heating element on the backside going bad?

THE C350
Sounds like a bad element or it is not getting power for some reason. On my car they actually get warm about the same time.

THE C350
Get your wife one of those seat header pads that plug into the cigarette lighter. Will be way way cheaper. When my cars 100,000 mile warranty was about to expire I had the dealer fix my lower seat cushion heater and i believe the parts cost was north of 500. You have to replace the leather/mbtex part as well as the element so it is very very expensive. I would try to find a junk yard that has it or tell the wife that is how it was designed
