A/C acting strange among other things, w203 2005

Hello

i am now on about 86k miles on my 2005 c230k w203. a few things i want to consult, hopefully someone can point me in right direction
my a/c is acting strange. the fans turn off after a few minutes of use then turn back on on their own. the actual unit stays powered on, its just the fans. this happens in either auto mode or manual mode. air blows cold , heat works. any thoughts?

car no longer feels 'smooth' when engine running and driving around. i know that it is almost at 100k miles and that the m271 is not as smooth as a 6 cylinder engine. wondering if there any maintenance that i can look into, or maybe something that needs to be swamped out with as many miles my car has on it. i do the oil in a regular basis, i have changed the plus about 15k miles ago, had some recall work done at dealership 2 years ago where they replaced alot of electrical in the engine bay (there was a thread around here about it) change the air filter regularly, changed alternator, belt, intake tube, and battery about 2 years ago (all OEM) thanks!

AFAIK the fan will cycle as needed, especially if ambient temperatures are mild. The W203 uses a single fan at variable speeds for both radiator cooling and a/c condenser cooling. Hope this helps....

Well, It is -20...-30c here regularly and my W203 keeps stopping the fan aswell, so the ambient temperatures dont have to be mild. It is quite irritating because one can notice it almost instantly.

You car hasnt got many miles on it, it should drive really nicely. I had similar issues with performance and I had to replace the mass air flow sensor. Mercs Star diagnosis should find whatever is wrong with the car.

That sounds normal. My use of the word mild was misleading. My point was that the fan cycles more when the temps get lower. In the heat of the summer the fan runs near constantly to cool the condenser. As temps get lower (cooler) this is no longer necessary and the fan may even spend more time off than it does on. Since the W203 uses one fan for both a/c and the radiator, the fan will cycle based on coolant temp and/or evaporator temp. Also note that the fan has variable speeds based on demand.
