This is how I'm touching up metallic paint chips
Anyway, I have 30 rock chips all a few millimeters in diameter that are completely missing paint on my 2005 C230 Granite Grey ride.
With the car NOT in direct sunlight at temperature range of 65-80 degrees...
1) Clean the area with soap/water and dry
2) Remove any loose paint/rust with tiny sandpaper (wire brush or cut out a tiny bit of sandpaper and glue to the tip of an eraser)
3) Dab rubbing alcohol to the cavity.
4) Shake the OEM touch up paint to bring out the metallic flakes and also shake the clearcoat
5) Add equal amounts of touch up paint and clearcoat to a cup (tiny amount), stir with a microbrush.
6) Use the microbrush and dab the mixed paint slowly into the cavity until it fills up.
7) Two options: 1) take a cloth wrapped over a plastic card size of credit card and push excess paint off to the side then remove that paint with Langka blob remover or 2) Dab till it forms a tiny blob, wait 30 min's and then level with Langka blob remover. I'll start w/ option 1.
8) Repeat steps 4-7 if when the touch up dries if it is sunken in/lower than the surrounding paint.
9) Wait a week and wax.
