Replace Drivers Side Mirror
Great site.
So, my wife backed out of the garage and tore the drivers side mirror completely off of her 2002 C-240 car (housing, broke the mirror). The dealer wants $1080 for the assembly. I found it online for (with expedited shipping) around $186.
EASY, EASY, EASY to replace. I am posting this because I searched everywhere for instructions and nothing came up. I was worried about getting a 7pin harness, airbags, etc. I've never replaced a mirror, and found it very easy.
1) you gotta take the door panel off
2) the 'new' mirror plugs into the 7pin "TEMIC" connector closest to the front of the car / windshield
(since her car doesn't have memory seating it made plugging everything in pretty easy)
3) put everything back
NOTE: I replaced this side view mirror (the whole thing) with the key in my pocket. Just wanted to be extra safe since there's an airbag in the door.
Again, very easy to replace, and very easy. I saved about $1000 by doing it myself. Figure a deductible is $500, the OEM parts (from Mercedes) are $1080 (not including labor) - it was a very easy fix. Thought I'd share, hope this helps someone else.
