Hey everyone-
I recently installed a 1200 watt sound system in my brothers C320 wagon and now the car keeps experiencing a loss of power and is stalling. I have about an 800 watt system in my car and it works fine (also a C class). I've been checking with a multimeter and even when the bass is hitting it never drops below 13.5 volts. I'm at a complete loss as of what to do. Any idea to what could be causing this?

 

Only thing I can think of is short power spikes.

Did you install a floating ground?

 

The amps are grounded directly to the frame in the trunk. I had my multimeter in the car last time it happened and no voltage dropped until the engine almost died. I assume then it was because the alt wasn't spinning...

Maybe the issue isn't related to the audio equipment? The timing of it would make me think so however.
