LED Bulbs

How many of you have switched to using LEDs in your car? I would like to switch all but reverse lamps to LED (brakes for safety, all else for looks). I understand a load equalizer must be used in conjunction with these bulbs so they do not trick the sensor into thinking they're burned out. Any suggestions about wiring the equalizers, where you purchased your bulbs, and your opinions after installing them would be helpful. Pictures are always nice too!

I was thinking of getting a set of bulbs from www.superbrightleds.com, their prices seem competitive enough. The only problem is that you'd need a load balancer for EVERY bulb you replace, and those things are like $5 each, which quickly multiplies if you start talking about replacing as many bulbs as possible.

At the very least I'd want to replace my turn signals, and possibly brake lights. The only problem with the brake lights is that they're mounted pointing up, but LEDs don't transmit their light equally in all directions like normal bulbs, so i was thinking of making something out of aluminum foil or similar material to reflect the light in the correct direction.

The wedge bulbs on the site are the ones that are listed as W5W bulbs in our car manual. These bulbs include the "city lights" (small bulb in the hi-beam enclosure), and the side markers on the bumper impact strip.

As for the other bulbs, such as turn signals, rear lights, and such, pay attention to the 1156 or 1157 designation, because they ARE different lights, with different sockets. Turn signals normally use the 1156, so buy accordingly.

Whether you want the narrow or wide beam version, how many LEDs on it, etc. is up to you.

I just recently pulled my wedge LED's out from my city lights. The drivers side one began to experience flickering problems as the weather has gotten colder, and I swear theyve gotten dimmer since I put them in a year ago.

Love the look...less than thrilled with the longevity....considering that's supposed to be one of the LEDs advantages.

Ive still got my turns LED's.
