Touch up paint

I have a Brilliant Silver C230 and bought the touchup paint kit from the dealer.

I have tired twice now to apply it and get a decent matching job - unsuccessfully. The paint I have almost seems too dark.

I know its metallic and needs to be shaken up, and the metal flakes will never be perfect, yet I can't even get a decent match out of this and was wondering if the dealer perhaps gave me the wrong colour code.

Does anyone have the touchup paint number for Briliant Silver?

Or tips that I can use to match this better? I have tried the silver alone and then mixing the silver with the clear coat with no luck either.

I bought Langka (thank god, it got rid of all the touchup paint that didn't match!) and read some pages on how to do a good job, and think I am folowing all the steps, just the paint doesn't match!

I have the same problem. I can't get the paint to match either. I just use a toothpick to fix chips and nicks. But the touch does seem to be darker. Anyone have any suggestions?

The touch up kit that I have says "9744 brillantsilber met." manufactured on "21.08.03". I haven't used it yet however a quick shake up and opening it, it does look like it might be a little darker. I am sure there are slight differences between manufacturing dates.

touch up paints will nver exactly match ur factory paint, especially that its silver. silver is hard to match coz it changes color in relation to light. piece of advice on Langka....dont use the buffing card, just use your fingers to rub, ull have more even results. ive had fairly good results in my silver IS, but on certain angles...u can still see the touched up portions.

Not exactly or at certain angles I could accept, yet this seems almost grey when dry, barely close to silver.

The closest I got was to mix the clear coat and silver together in a dish, NOT STIRRING, and slightly dab onto the car using a toothpick.

I agree. I have a Brilliant Silver C240 and the touch-up kit I bought was Halfords own brand (Halfords is a huge UK car parts store chain. I bought the kit for my car (they have a seperate kit for every car on the market pretty much) and I was also very dark.

It look rubbish man!! De stone chips look better.

I had the same problem I bought a 3rd party touch up kit from Halfords and its matches perfect, the dealers touch up works better on plastic.
