Brake Lights stay ON when driving
Hi,
My C220 CDI today started giving me an error on the dashboard saying "Brake lights, visit workshop" ... i noticed that the brake lights will never go off even when i am not pressing the brake pedal.
I checked for a sensor under the brake pedal but there is none... i hade the ECU reparied few days ago...removed the ECU and it didnt affect the lights so its not a connected issue...
STAR displays the REAR SAM with -F- and when i read the error codes it says something like terminal 54 short circuit in the positive or something like this... what can it be??

Today in the morning the problem just went away by itself. I guess the front SAM got wet when i worked on the ECU.
I found a very helpful thread actually that can help others as well. This issue is probably caused by water in the front SAM.

Yes ~ a wet SAM will do it. I always forget that the brake lights work via a fuse in the front SAM & the rest of the tail lamp cluster operates via the rear SAM.
