Intake Manifold Flapper Broken

Hey Guys,

I just did Service B and Transmission Oil service at the dealer. Car only have about 87000 miles. The night before, check engine light came on, found the code p0128 about thermostat issue, the dealer called that they also found the intake manifold flapper is broken and they want 2800 bux to replace the entire manifold. Did my research and found out I can replace the broken piece with aftermarket part. Also, the thrust control arm needs to be replaced. Total would come close to 5K, I was like, WTF, the car only worth like 10K. So I couldn't find any DIY to remove the intake manifold, anyone with access to WIS or any info to remove the manifold would be very much appreciated. I found a few pictures that show the manifold area, I don't see anything too concerning. Any tips or things to watch out as I remove the manifold?? Thank you very much for reading and any help.

Re-installing can be tedious. Beware the intake manifold gaskets. It's easy to pinch them or have them shift during re installation. A trick is to put a few strategically placed dabs of superglue on the gaskets and stick them to the intake manifold surface so they go on straight. (use new gaskets).

After back and forth with the dealer, they offered me good will discount. Ended up having them to replace it. Unfortunately, too many broken parts, including the ones inside the manifold (plastic bushing craked inside), so either way, I still have to replace manifold. got the car back. What a different with the performance.... Feel like got back horsepower back.
