Thumbs up Best A/S?

Which one's best all season tires? I'm planning to get a staggered 18"? Anybody knows from reviews? tests? posts? xperiences? +'s and -'s?

Pirelli P7000 Super Sport
Michelin Pilot Sport A/S
Yokohama AVS Sport

Where can I get them at best price? What will be the sizes (tire and wheels)?
Btw, I've a C320 Sport. Do I need bodywork? will the fender need to be rolled? Is MB Sport springs low enough to cover the wheel wells?
Apologize for being a rattle, but just want make sure not screwing up 1st MB?
Thx for the input!

The Michelins are by far the best all around tires out of the 3, although if you are going to be doing some serious track driving I would go for the Pirellis .

You can probably find them at a good price from www.wheelexperts.com and they should be able to answer all your questions.

Wink

Thanks a lot, John.
I recently read from latest Road & Track and they did a performance test on Michelin against similar performance tires. Apparently, your suggestion is right. Michelin's the one.
Cheers

Im gonna try the Michelins too

I read that article and they seem like the best of the breed.. I just wonder how much they cost. I have a feeling that four tires is gonna run me in the $1,100 range. I see other tires that appear to last longer and cost much less, but their performance in the summer (dry or wet) is not very good. If I can get a deal on these Mich's I may give it a whirl.

just my opinion... but if you've got enough scratch for 18s... you've got enough scratch for snow tires... so the "all-season" requirement becomes moot and you can get some real summer tires that might actually stand up to the abuse that you put them through... may I suggest Pilot Sports or S-03s?

still, michelin pilot a/s just came out, so they're still pretty expensive. give it a few more months and the price will drop, just like the s03 and pilot sport did. u might also wanna give the rosso's a try...but i've heard they're less than great. pirelli really hasn't come out with any better than the pzero assymetric systems. if u still have ur old rims, u could get a set of high performance snow tires for those. and stick a great set of bridgestone s03 or pilot sport onto those 18" to really get the max performance out of such an upgrade. besides...the salt (i assume u're in the u.s.) will just kill ur rims.

khumos get kinda noisy and rough-riding after the first 5,000 miles... I had them on my integra, and while they stick like stink, they just don't ride that great... for the money, you can't beat it, butIf you're spending $2000+ on wheels, you can afford a set of REAL performance tires.

the khumos are simply not a good dynamic fit for a car like a mercedes... they feel more at home in a low-rent civic.
