Sunshade for C230?

Has anyone found a good sunshade that fits the front window of the C230 coupe and doesn't look ugly? The generic one I bought doesn't look ugly, but doesn't fit well either. Does Mercedes make a specially fitted one for the coupe?

Groove,

I picked one up at Target that fits perfectly and matches quite well. It is the style that has a wire insert and you twist it to fold it up. It comes in two pieces and is solid silver on one side and and silver and black on the other. When in place it covers about 95% of the windshield area. I'll try to get a brand name for you. They come in two sizes and I got the smaller one. When I'm not using it, it tucks between the seat and the center console. For my last car I used one of those reflective according things and have too say this one if much better.

I hope this helps.

I bought the same one at Target. You need he JUMBO size. They also sell one that is one piece. That one is crap, I returned it. The two piece version works good.

All sunshades look ugly. You want beauty or functionality/convenience/ease of use? Here's another idea.

sal, I totally agree with you, it's UGLY. But I always know where that accordian is, it's never in the way of my passengers when they attempt to sit down, it doesn't get dirty and greasy from laying on the floor when not in use, nor does it spread the dirt/grease to the seats when you throw it there instead of the floor, I don't have to "fiddle" to get it to stay in place, my passengers don't have to cover their eyes while I grapple with the snappy "hoops," and it always looks custom fitted to the windshield, because it is custom fitted.

BTW, the unit can be removed and stowed during the Winter or anytime you like. It simply unclips.

I've tried them all, and this unit is the easiest to use. Far outwieighs the FUGLY factor, IMO.

I've used the brookstone sunshades in my cars. It's the wire/twist to fold type. Have used one for 8 years, still in great shape. For some things Brookstone is worth the extra cost because of the quality and no hassle satisfaction exchange.

Gotta agree with you there, it does look pretty practical as compared to fumbling with the sunshades. I guess i would have to use and probably the "FUGLINESS" will fade away

My Brookstone style shades got greased-up. Don't get me wrong, I'm a non-smoker who keeps his car interiors immaculate. However, I think when you throw them on the floor (or wedge them between seat and console) they eventually come into contact with the grease on the seat rails.

IMO, the "Shade" looks just as elegant and custom fitted (when deployed) as the nice set in Lynn's pix... except with more pleats, that's all. In truth, the nerdy "Fugly" look comes in when looking at the shade assembly in the stowed position along the A pillar. But as noted you can remove it whenever needed.

BTW, I don't work for Dash Designs, really.

You might try HeatShields at www.canvasworks.com. They're about $35 and fit the windshield very tightly. I used one on a Integra for years and ordered one for the C230 as well. The fit on the C230 is very nice and covers virtually 100 percent of the front glass.
