I have a 2005 C230 sport and I have noticed oil in the rear bailey tray and I believe it is leaking from the TCU plug, what I wanted to find out was in order to change the seals on it, do I have to drain the transmission fluid or can it be replaced without draining the entire fluid out?
2nd question is, why are there so many different names to this part eg: TCU plug, Pilot Bushing, conductor plate, what is the correct name for this part?

I think you may need to drain your transmission fluid to do it. However, I've just called that the TCU plug. A conductor plate, however, is completely different.

It is called the pilot bushing and no you do no have to drain the tranny fluid. Just reach in there unscrew the center bolt and unplug and reassemble. Juts make sure that you pry out the old seals and double check this to make sure that all old seal rea removed beofre you insert the new pilot bushing.
If you need more infor search on pilot bushing on here and you will find a toin of information.
good luck.

As others have mentioned, this part is called the Pilot Bushing, or sometimes the Wiring Harness Spacer. Failure of this part is a very common issue on the 722.6xx series automatic transmissions.
We offer this part on our website, both as an individual component, or as part of a kit that includes everything you will need to do this job.
You can get to the parts by clicking HERE, or by clicking on the photo of the kit below.

If there is anything else I can help you out with, please feel free to post or send a PM!
thanks you ECS Tuning

Hi, I have a c230 2005 Sports Kompressor and pretty much maintained my car by reading what the dash board told me to do. I bought it in 2006 with less than 10,000 miles. It now has over 80,000 miles. I have no complaints except for the fact that Mercedes dealerships ripped me off so bad. I was totally taken advantage of. Every time I went to get brakes, they told me I needed rotors. It's amazing that I take my car to other people now and haven't changed my rotors in a long time. I just need to know if anyone knows anything about oil leaking from my car.
