Extended Warranty
Since there are so many questions (and different answers ) on the forum regarding extended warranty, I’d like to let you know, I spoke to LML with Courtesy Motors yesterday and she sold me a 7 year / 100.000 Daimler Chrysler warranty with a $100.00 deductible for $ 2,900.00. (02 C320 with 48.000 miles on it).
She told me, the DC warranty is almost the same then the Starmark and any MB dealer will honor it.
The car has still to be under factory warranty to get it and the warranty is transferable.
She took my CC no. over the phone and promised me to mail the paperwork in the next 30 days.
We got a three year warranty extension, for 160,000 km (~100,000 miles) from M-B Canada (called Mercedes-Benz Canada "signature class" warranty) for $1600 CDN (~ $1200 US) last spring.
Since it was an $800 discount, we went for it - a no-brainer since we're keeping the car forever. So the car was under a year old at the time.
Maybe check with the dealer or MB Canada to see if they'll be offering a similar promotion again.

We were called by the dealer (Three Point Motors Victoria) last spring with a special offer. Apparently there was a promotion on the warranty extension that normally costs about $2400 CDN.

How comprehensive is the extended warranty? Is it basically an extension of the factory bumper to bumper warranty, or do they omit certain components?
I realize that certain wear and tear items like brakes, etc, would not be covered.
The last thing I'd want to do is spend good money on a warranty only to find out that some things are not covered.
TIA,
David.

As far as we could tell with all the documentation that was provded to us, it is truly an extension of the full bumper to bumper warranty to 7 years from date of purchase and 160,000 km.
The car already has a pretty decent powertrain warranty and the mandatory emission control system warranty covers a good period too (130,000 km I think) and it includes the whole engine, essentially.
Even considering that, we decided to go for it because the price was not that bad and also the least reliable parts of a Benz are usually the electrical system, and this warranty covers all of that.

Thanks very much for the information, much appreciated!!
You're right about the electirical components on our cars being the least reliable. Good to know that is covered by the extended warranty. Even at the regular price the 3 year extended is still a good deal.
I'll look into it some more when I go to my dealer in January. I have some things that need a fixin'.
Later man.
