Considering 2007 C230 Sport - can someone check a VIN for me?
Concerned about the balance shaft issue - the VIN is WDBRF52H97A924980. It is a 6-speed MT and has about 80,000 miles.

Any other issues to look out for?

Had a 2003 C240 and loved it, just not the electrical gremlins that got feisty around 120,000!

Nope. That car has M272 no. 417 351, which is within the range of balance shaft failures.

Good to know - I will take a pass. I wish I could find an older C with a motor as dependable as my 2003 2.6 but a more dependable electrical system. Maybe I should be looking at 2008/9 forward - I just prefer the look of the 01-07s.

Have you tried to tell the seller about the problem and negotiate on the price?
Then you could have it fixed and enjoy the car... just an idea.
