Question Audio10 Mute Button

Just installed Audio10 today.
Do I need to take my car to dealer to program TEL PRESENT in order for mute button to work?
What is TA VOL in the menu for? Goes from 0-3.
Will post pics later today.

TA is for Traffic Advisory. It is not used in the United States.

There is no mute button on the Audio 10 unit. If the integrated phone is installed, an incoming call would mute it automatically.

This is not the "mute" button. There isn't one in the Audio 10. Even if the integrated phone were present, you wouldn't be able to mute the sound by pressing a button - mute gets activated automatically when a call comes in.

Yea, the button you are thinking about is not mute.. it's some funky european traffic button that, like Lynn said, is not used in the US. Basically that button doesn't do anything in the US.

it works on a few stations for me

On my audio ten, there are a few stations that when i tune into in RDS mode that illuminate the TP signal in the upper right portion of the display. When TP is illuminated if I hit the mute button it does just that, it mutes all audio. This only happens on about 5 stations in Detroit. Hope that helps.

That button will mute the audio for R-D-S and EON (Extended Other Networks) enabled areas and stations.
I believe that when a Traffic Advisory is broadcast, the system will umute automatically so that you can listen to the traffic broadcast.

There's also a way that you can set it up so that the system interrupts playback of CDs to broadcast in a similar way.

This button is used to mute the current audio playback *only* if a traffic programming transmitter is present. If this is the case, then pressing on this button will switch the receiver to playing the current traffic update. Otherwise, this button will have no effect whatsoever. In the U.S. RDS is in its infancy, and propably will stay in this state forever, so this button is useless here.
