Forum Jedi's I need some help. About 2 months ago my C240 would not start, after reading answers from you guys I replaced the crank sensor and put on a new starter. Before I replaced them I would try and start the car but would only get a whirling whining type noise. Belt would turn fly wheel etc. all would turn but sounds like it was not firing? I replaced both parts thinking solenoid was bad on the starter and the forever problem causing crank sensor but still same noise? I hear the fuel pump engaging and have checked all fuses and are ok. Anyone have advise as I am stuck like chuck!!

Does it sound like this?

Also read the rest of the thread for fuses/fuel pressure diagnostics.

Yes sounds exactly like that? What is the problem?

In his case there was zero compression due to bent valves (timing chain skipped teeth).
But your engine has a double-gang chain, so that's weird if it is indeed the chain...

I just checked the fuel relay and it looks fine no melting or scorching, I also tried the gas pedal down in key position 2 and no luck. However it now seems to have a slight bit of compression (sounding more like it trying to fire) but after I try to start it twice its just goes completely dead. Last this I noticed was if I leave the key in position 2 after 30 seconds I hear a clicking noise coming from what seems to be the intake manifold?

Checked everything again and got it to start, drove around for about 10min. Battery light was on and flashing ESP? Parked it and let it run for a while came back outside and it was overheating? Can a bad battery or low voltage cause it to overheat by no powering something else properly? Or could the water pump pulley be bad and dragging the belt not allowing the alternator to charge the battery?
