how to fix a creaky center console
Had to register to share this...
So my center console was always creaking badly when going over rough roads or sharp turns. Got sick of this and wanted to do some investigating. Removed ashtray and cigarette lighter, poked around and eureka! There are 2 torx screws (big-ish size) you can tighten. Turning these little guys clockwise pulls the center console down and the gear lever console forward/up. My center console has never been so fixed in place and no more creaks!
The torx screws are situated right at where the center and gear consoles meet. Just remove the two plastic curved covers on either side of the ashtray and lighter hole.
Sorry if this is common knowledge in the merc world but I was very surprised and happy to see those screws!
