Transmission Swap?

Is it possible to put a 6 speed manual into my '02 C320 wagon? I think some coupes came with manuals during that time. Would it mate up w/o any issues? What about the electronics...I assume some ecu's would have to be reprogrammed. Would this be viable? I've seen some trannys on ebay for around $700. Any thoughts?

Yes it's possible but not financially viable. By the time you have fitted a flywheel & clutch to the engine, Fitted a new pedal set, hydraulics & MT, plus got the electronics, inhibitor switches etc. sorted the cost will be prohibitive. Your diff ratio might also be wrong. Don't know what you have fitted.

Thanks Glyn...that was the info I was looking for.

I guess if/when I get rid of the C320 wagon, I'll look into either a B5 or B6 Audi S4 Avant. Though, I did find that Subaru did make a Legacy Wagon one year (2005) with a detuned STi motor...can also be had with a manual.

Most wouldnt do it as it'll probably be expensive and hard to get the electronics to work out. There is a forum member on here under the name jk8trjosh (or something like that) who has done 6 speed swaps on m113 5.0s on the r170 platform. Its doable, but a tad bit expensive. I believe he literally opens up the ECU and solders stuff... scary, but hes got a few successful examples and is lining up to do a 6spd on an m113k.

Thanks John. I think it'd be cool to have a 6speed wagon, but not very cost effective.

I still haven't made it back up there for work...I'll let you know when I do.
