Here is a pic and here's a link to what my hardwiring ended up looking like: https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w203/109780-help-electrical-wiring-v1-install-please.html
you might be diminishing your range on the v1 by putting it behind the 'blue' part of the windshield.

The voting appears to narrow the field to the BEL, the Passport and the V1, as in every similar thread in the past.
some things on this forum just never die. i won't be surprised if this topic is brought up again.

Maybe because the majority of the members use V1 and are quite happy with it?

There's nothing wrong with the popularity of the V1. If it were the same size as either the Passport or the BEL, I would look into one, myself.

As it is today, however, it's SIZE reminds me of the practicality of an underdash 8-trk player I owned 30-years ago. If this is such a state-of-the-Art detector, surely the gnomes at Valentine can package it in a size no bigger that it's competitors that are just as successful. Don't punish me for my opinions, I'm not punishing you.

Now that you mention it, it does look like an 8-track!

They really need to come out with a new look that has a true remote mount option. Mike's still living in the 70's I guess.

Cool. Now we are on the same wavelength. I'm sure it's an excellent product. But, at a time when you guys are lapping up smaller and smaller cellphones, ipods, cameras, etc., I just find it odd that you give Valentine a free pass on it's outmoded packaging design. That's all.

Sometimes you've got to overlook the style when the performance is so good. Personally, my gadget collecting drive is dwindling. My cell phone is a 2.5 year old Nokia freebie. It makes and receives calls perfectly! Why change because there is a newer model in a prettier case?

I absolutely agree. I'm a bit older than many on this forum, and in retrospect, I wish I had a nickel for every technology toy I've chased through the years. Cellphones are obsolete within weeks, nowadays.

I know this is a bit off-topic, but I only buy new gadgets when I think they have advanced substantially over the items they replace. Thus, my Motorola V400 will do me just fine until the ultimate ipod/phone combo (and enhanced battery) technology arrives. I held off buying a digital camera until 3 megapixels was the norm, and won't buy another until 6-7 megapixels can be had for $150 or less.

So, until Valentine shrinks it's unit to a size that doesn't require band-aid fixes like remote displays, I'll wait on the sidelines.

Um, yes. Thanks. Mysteriously enough, maturity parallels age, whether we like it or not. On this forum, it's pretty obvious. (j/k)

I think I would agree with this to a certain extent, MB-BOB, but I do believe that there are a rare, few young adults that can attain a certain maturity level that exceeds their age based on life experiences...but generally speaking, I'd definitely have to agree with you.
