There is a reason the C55 has the CLK front end... And if you were to do a conversion, I could probably get a C55 for the same price.

Anything can be done! First thing to do is scower epc for part compatibility. That is the best upgrade performance wise than trying to squeeze what u can out of a smaller motor. "There is no replacement for displacement"

I have thought about something like this too and have opportunity as well to buy a v8 from a wrecked car. If u have $50k check out iaai.com ... search for amg and buy one of those SLS engines to drop in! :-D

Cost will be horrible, while you have same chassis, then get C55 with-out mysterious headache..

So what has to be replaced?

The sub frame?
The suspension?
The rad support?

Need 5.4l Engine assembly with harness & ECU/W580A gearbox with TCU/3.06 big pumpkin diff./axles/bigger brakes..

I can do the ECU for you, auto or manual, I've done both.

The M113 will fit, but it's a very tight squeeze. Plugs are gonna be a *****, but you could cut a bit into the firewall to get more space.
Again, it's a VERY tight squeeze. If you wanted to do any belt work you'd probably have to remove the radiator.

definitely cheaper to buy C55 and save urself time and money...
plus, u end up with AMG wheels, brakes, seats, etc...
