2002 C230 Coupe(M111)
268HP Coupe on the way! ? ! ?
I was at the dealer today getting my dent looked at, and the left steering wheel button replaced(again...but they have to order a part this time...) and I was talking with my sales monkey about the 05 'facelift'. He said the new tailights have a pearlescence in the white area. He expects the new interior to get a lot of good press. And get this...he says there will be a new C320, yes, 320 using a 3.0L engine making 230HP, with a C350 making 268 from a 3.5L, not the 3.7L??? weve all been hearing about. Hmm.
Wow, I could really dig a Coupe with 270HP! Oh yeah, the C240 gets a new 2.5L V6 with 190HP(and some respect, eh?). Should be interesting...don't know if this is sales guy BS or legit.
Matt? We need confirmation....

So I think this is legit....yes, it will be nice for a C-Class non AMG to produce 268HP

they will be the first V6 engines to ever have variable valve timing on BOTH the intake and exhaust cams (4 cams per engine). It is also supposed to have direct fuel injection like diesel vehicles, which will increase fuel econ. and performance.

Anyone know how the torque curves are for these new things? I'm dead set on a V8 for our next car, but if these have some good grunt on the low end, I might look into them. Plenty of time to think about it, i suppose...

Damn why does Mercedes have to come up with all these numbers? I mean I'm already getting kinda pissed that the "C230" emblem can be confused with "C320".

However, I do believe the part about the 3.5L engine. I heard a while back that the ML350 was not named the 370 because it was going to eventually be replaced with a 3.5L. I'll see if I can find anything out about those other engines. A 268hp coupe would be very nice.

I was under the impression that none of the direct injection motors would be heading to the US (I think it was due to some problem with gas quality, similar to the diesel story). Although, I imagine that slightly de-tuned versions (compared to Europe) should be possible with our gas.
