18" Rims question

Hello,

I have a 2002 C240. If I were to install 18" Rims, it looks like I would have to lower the car. What would I need to purchase to do that and where would I go to have it done? I am in Jacksonville FL. Also, will it degrade the ride of my car if I lower it? My car is soooo smoooooth right now, I dont want to mess it up.

Thanks

If you're not lowering your car with 18" it'll look funny, so I guess lowering is essential. Do a search on this forum, there were a lot of discussions about lowered springs. Anyway....from what I've been reading on this forum Eibach springs will give you the softest ride compared with H&R and other brands of springs. I used to have Eibach on my car for 2 years and I can tell you from my experience that the ride comfort was very good...the car looked and handled better too

if u change the shocks, then u'll lose that comfort feel.
i'm still debating myself what i need to do w/ my suspension setup... ideally, eibach pro springs and adjustable shocks with softest settings would be best for me... since u want 18s, you may want to drop a little more IMO.

I changed my C230 Sport Sedan from 17 to 18

18x8 (plus one) Wheel+Tire circumference remained the same. The car looks a lot better. It does not look funny. ( well, maybe the front but that always had a large fender gap ).

You will definitely lose a good amount of comfort. BUT! Your car will look ALOT better and you will have more control and handling.

Your comfort loss will most likely come from tires IMO.

Since you have the C240, You probably have the Michelin Energy tires right? Oh I miss these. the most comfortable ride ever! I have pilot sports now.

If you change your springs and shocks / Get larger wheels / and High performance tires. There will be a huge Difference in your ride quality. Much stiffer.

Not that its uncomfortable by any means. But you will definitely notice alot of stiffness, but still its pretty smooth.

If I were you I would go with Eibach / koni with pilot sport A/S

You will have a good balance of ride and sport.

AND YES you MUST lower the car when you get rims!
