Exclamation Heater AC blower issue searched already PLEASE HELP????

Hello I am new here.

Well I have a 2002 c230k and the blower motor will not work. I have been trying to fix it for a few weeks and am at my end. Searched the forum and found nothing that solves the issue?

Replaced the blower regulator, checked the blower with 12v (it works), getting power at the regulator (not sure what the readings are supposed to be though getting 13+ on 2 larger wires and 3-4 on smaller), after the regulator the power seems to fluctuate but is very low.

All the HVAC control module (think that's what it's called) lights function.

I need the blower motor to work to even be able to drive in the current weather conditions and with winter coming would love to have heat.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Anybody at all? I am off today and was hoping to fix this issue or at least figure it out.

Well, one possibility is the faulty replacement regulator. Have you compared its outputs with the old regulator?

Have you checked for changes in voltage at the regulator input as you rotate the knob on the control panel? (I have no idea how it works)

The voltage remains the same no matter where the fan speed selector is placed or if any of the buttons are pushed. The two large wires going to the regulator are 13+ volts while the two smaller ones are around 3 volts.

I have no idea where to even start and I need my defroster fixed.

Ok, I checked the voltages on mine.
The blue wire is about 9v to ground, the yellow one is full battery voltage.
So that makes ~3v across the thin wires. The control panel probably senses if there is a regulator present and only then supplies the correct voltages...
On older mercs one of the thin wires is enabled with ignition, and the other actually controls the regulator output.

Thanks VVF. Wish I could have gotten more help as I am virtually clueless? I have chosen to just buy a variable switch and am going to attempt hard wiring the blower motor with it.

Any advice? Probably run a direct line with a variable switch and off/on switch with a 30A inline fuse. Guessing I am getting air to the vents just not blowing it with force. The fan works at 12v fine.

Here is a link the the variable switch I bought it comes with the nice case.

Well wish me luck I only have this car for now and need heat and defrost. Next issue is to diagnose the ESP, BAS etc.......

So + directly from the battery to a 30A fuse then to a 30 AMP ignition switched relay then to the motor speed control module then a 30A fuse then the blower motor. Ground to chassis.

Probably run 10-12 gauge wire.

Does this sound safe and like it might work?

Any help would be great.

Thanks in advance!

Jim

Why not just use power from the two thick wires that connect to the original regulator?

In the meantime, while you are driving like that with a custom controller, I'd get a HVAC control panel from another car and see if replacing that solves the issue.
I mean, assuming that the new regulator you have there now is functional, that panel is now suspect...

VVF I was considering that option as well. Now I have to wait for the part from China. LOL.

C230 Sport Coup + 2006 W164 ML350 + 99 Ford Escort (What the heck, it gets 38 mpg!)
Gee all this R&R of parts!
You haven't had the car connected to a Star Diag and had a diagnoses done?
It would be worth it.
