Mercedes COMAND vs. Acura's Navigation System
I was in my friend's CL yesterday and he had the coolest Navigation system I've seen. It had toggle controls. Can locate gas stations, by brand, motels...virtually everything on a selected route. I was blown away.
I don't know who has Mercedes COMAND, but is it just as good and as accurate. I'm not sure, but I think Acura's is DVD based.

command
the acura one is DVD based, my sis has it in her tl, she always tells me it's better than mine because of the use of the touch screen use. i dont use the navi much, (got it only because it looked better than standard console). it can show you the nearest gas station and banks and info like that, it's just not on the screen as it is on the acura's system. the shell stations have actual logos on the screen( i kinda like that but it's ok, i'm sure MB is working on a DVD based system soon.)

If MB's Navigation unit is made by Alpine (like their CD Changer is), then it shouldn't be a problem for them.
Alpine ALREADY makes a DVD based Navigation system. As far as I'm aware, they were the first ones to come out with one. It was available over a year ago.

I'm with Phattbam, the Benz navi isn't that great; but it makes the interior look good. All other navi's that i've seen (x-type) are much better looking and integrated. I just got the command for the looks. I wish it was like Jaguar's new navi on the x-type, it's touch screen, has voice control, and even controls the climate system.

touch screens suck....fingerprints all over the place look terrible.
I used a BMW 330i nav(CD) for a trip of about 1500 miles....worked excellent.
haven't auditioned the MB COMAND.

My in-laws have the Acura Nav system in their MDX... it freakin' rocks. I've used the MB, BMW and Lexus systems and the acura is soooooo easy to use (and you can use the "mouse" if you want to save the touch-screen). The Lexus system is just a copy of the acura system with a few changes that I don't like, The BMW system is not as easy to use and the MB system is just more cumbersome with the CDs.
