Some very interesting info on the new 1.8 litre Kompressor . . .
. . . can be found at
http://mbspy.bacosys.be/M271.htm
The biggest point to me is the following statement:
"the new C 180 KOMPRESSOR accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.7 seconds, going on to reach a top speed of 222 km/h, making it 1.3 seconds quicker and 12 km/h faster than the previous C 180 Saloon."
That is a touch under two seconds SLOWER than the current 2.3 litre Kompressor.
Another good quote is:
"In terms of power output and torque, the C 230 KOMPRESSOR (141 kW/192 hp, 260 Newtonmetres) is the star of the new four-cylinder engine line-up. This version, which Mercedes-Benz will install in the C-Class Sports Coupé, delivers a fuel saving of 0.7 litres per 100 kilometres compared to its predecessor"
So, do people out there still believe Mercedes is going to use this engine in the United States for their C230? It certainly sounds to me like a simple replacement for the current 1.8 litre non-supercharged engine used in the C180 in Europe. In that way, all Sport Coupe variations include a Kompressor (1.8, 2.0 and 2.3 litres).
Best regards,
CP
P.S. Go visit the link, very nice pictures and comparison data at bottom.

mdp c230k,
Where in the world are you getting 192 hp out of the new 1.8 litre Kompressor? The data seems to indicate it will have 143 hp in the configuration used. The 2.3 litre K has 2295 ccm displacement and 192 hp.

the replacement engine for the coupe supposedly has 7% less HP, and 7% better fuel effifiency, but 20 lbs less torque.
The simple fact is that the current engine is pretty tunable, rock solid, and a bargain at these prices. COLLECT EM ALL WHILE SUPPLIES LAST!!!!
