MB or Audi

Considering to get one of them.

C230K with C5, C7, CD changer and 6spd

or

Audi TT 180QC with premium package
( Heated front seats with individual temperature control,
Xenon high-intensity discharge headlights with automatic
self-leveling, HomeLink® remote transmitter, and 17-inch
6-spoke cast alloy wheels with 225/45 performance tires.)

Opinions please

Audi TT

Yeah, the TT in particular looks like a Beetle that's been left in the sun too long and has melted a bit. I really am not impressed with its looks. The droopy bum is really daft-looking. But if you like it, forget what I've written

Drive both, get what you like.

i also seriously considered the TT, but when all was said in done, the car needs to be a daily driver. The TT jsut doesnt qualify. its tiny, all around, and the 180 version is just kinda weak (not that the benz is a race horse)

Style is nice, but i fear it might become dated.

all in all, the backseat, hatch functionality, and gobs of techno junk in the benz sold me on it.

drive both, and see what you think.

Nothing wrong with the TT. Except it's really only for two people. So if you never worry about having friends tag along, go for it.
It's a serious toy, though. Not as much utility as the Mercedes.
The Benz definitely gives you more bang-per-buck. It's simply a blast to drive, and you can save a couple thousand bucks. There really is nothing wrong with the Benz. Guess what - that's why I got it. We were really eyeballing the TT at first, but - too much money (although it's still a bargain compared to a Porsche), and it's a toy. No back seats. Not that this ever stopped a BMW Z3 Coupe buyer...

Your call. (I know, I'm being no help at all ).
Hope this helps.

Its is an absolute toss-up.

The MB is a better cruiser for relaxed driving, it is probably a better "value" and DEFINTELY has more room. it also will have great resale value and very good long-term servicability.

the TT is a gorgeous car in my opinion. I was very seriously considering one, but the residuals are so low that leasing is suicide. this is a direct result of poor resale on most audis. it definietly handles better than the C230 (its not an obscene difference, but a clear and noticable one) The Audi is also beautiful inside and comes with a lot of great features. Quattro AWD is GREAT for northern climates and it is VERY tunable, to the tune of an easy 250hp. if you do not opt for the power seats on the MB... the audi's are MUCH better.

the MB is softer, bigger (inside at least) more reliable, safer, and to some better looking.

wither choice is great... the MB is a "smarter" choice, the Audi is more fun... its a toss-up... although for sun-country folk, panorama clinches it for the benz.

I like the TT alot. I looked at getting a 225hp quattro coupe, butI needed more of a "useful" car to put golf clubs and other stuff into. It drives great, not sure about how conv drives but for me I just fell in love with the merc.

I really like the Audi TT. A lot.
But so do the C-coupe.

So for less $$$ and more practicality I chose the Benz.

pls seriously consider the TT225
it comes with bigger turbo and bigger intercooler

and pls dont get a silver TT, its very tasteless

TT180Q is just a Golf 1.8T 180hp with 4motion

the Quattro that comes on the TT is actually a VW 4motion instead of the Audi Quattro

I looked for the right attribution in an earlier post but couldn't find it... so I apologize in advance for hijacking. Someone here once referred to the TT as a 21st century Kharmann-Ghia...

How dare you! The TT, while nice, doesn't have anything close to the class of the ghia. It's one of those overlooked cars that should get more respect, like the P1800 (or es) and Sonnett. Or am I really just a 30+ old fart waxing nostalgic?

Outward visibilty is horrible in the TT. If you have a passenger next to you it is virtually impossible to guage cars next to you. If your clausterphobic consider the Merc with the roof. Then again your the one who will be living with the car so your experience IMO is more relevant.

Crossfire Coupe
I considered buying a 225hp TT or the C-Coupe. After exhaustively being an audi nut and wanting something different , I was sold with the C-Coupe. The C-Coupe comes with an auto (Which I wanted), a bigger back seat, an awesome all-glass roof, better safety rating, fresher/better looks (TT Getting Outdated) and best of all less C-Coupes on the road (rarity Factor) here in S. Florida there are as many TT's as VW Beetles. So I went with the C-Coupe. I later went and bought the new '02 Audi A4 3.0 to satisfy my long time audi/VW commitment. I can honestly tell you that Audi's do have the best looking interiors out there and they build very solid and nice cars which are fun to drive. The TT though is a bit odd looking from the front. The front looks like a moon buggy that hasn't quite reached production stages, whereas the Benz is just awesome. But as everyone says, do your pros and cons and drive both and see which one suits you best and take it from there. Either one you choose would be an awesome decision.

infact, the TT and the Beatle were both designed by the same design studio, in Westlake Village. One of the guys who designed it lives across the street from one of my friends.

In NYC, the manhatten dealership 3 months ago had a promotion of $489. $1000 down, 39 months, 39,000 miles. I think this is a great rate.

I also considered the TT. However, when you compare price to what you are getting the MB is the better choice of the two. In the end it is just a matter of which one you like best. Test drive both. No matter which one you go with you wont be disappointed.

Audi's long term quality it very bad. Fit and finish is fine at first, but then it is all down hill. They just get old quickly. A Mercedes lasts for much longer, the door still shuts after 10 year the way it did after 10 days.

If I am not mistaken, the TT AWD system is Haldex. The VW 4-motion AND the Audi Quattro are TORSEN-based, and pretty much identical. The TT AWD system is not the same as VW 4-motion.
